New NAB Chief gives Befitting Reply to Shahbaz over graft Illegations

ISLAMABAD – Justice (reted) Javed Iqbal, new chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) came hard down hard on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for labeling Nab a “corrupt organisation”.

Javed Iqbal, who was selected by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah, said that people who are levelling allegations of corruption had finally opened their eyes to the damages of the menace.

Talking to media during his visit to NAB Headquarters on Friday, the new appointed official said why they avoid eliminating the corruption while in power.

Referring to his appointment, he said that what kind of message they want to give by calling NAB corrupt at a time when new chairman has just assumed charge.

Highlighting the role of NAB against corruption, the chief said that the organisation will continue implementing zero tolerance policy towards corrupt officers and officials, adding that no one including him is above the law.

On Thursday, Shahbaz Sharif said hours after the indictment of his elder brother, Nawaz Sharif, in corruption cases that NAB was the most corruption department of Pakistan.

He said that the anti-graft watchdog was politically motivated, adding that it was unable to do anything during the tenure of former president Pervez Musharraf.
